Ingredients
All-purpose flour - 1 1/4 cups
Baking powder - 1/4 tsp
Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
Salt - 1/4 tsp
Cocoa powder - 1 tbsp
Unsalted butter (room temperature) - 1/2 cup
Powdered sugar or granulated sugar - 3/4 cup
Egg(room temperature) - 2
Vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp
Buttermilk - 1/2 cup (if not available, take 1/4 cup milk + 1/4 cup curd)
Red food color paste - as required
Apple cider vinegar or white vinegar - 1/2 tsp
Cream cheese frosting
Cream cheese - 1/2 cup
Icing sugar - 1/3 cup
Vanilla extract - 1/2 tsp
Whipping cream - 1 cup
Method
Make sure all the ingredients are at room temperature.
Preheat oven to 180 degrees for 10mins.
Sieve flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.
Mix the flour mixture nicely.
In the bowl beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Now add the egg, one at a time and beat well.
Add vanilla essence and beat until combined.
Add vinegar and mix well.
Add buttermilk and beat until combined.
Add sieved flour little by little. combine well.
Add food color paste as required.mix gently.
Pour the batter into the greased baking tray. Here I took the heart-shaped baking pan.
Tap the baking tray to remove air bubbles.
Bake at 160 degrees for about 35mins.
After 35 mins, let the cake cool completely.
And decorate the cake with cream cheese frosting.
Cream cheese frosting
Make sure cream cheese and whipping cream is cold.
In a bowl add cream cheese and sieved icing sugar.
Add vanilla extract and beat until creamy.
In another bowl add whipping cream and beat until stiff peak forms.
Then mix the whipped cream into the cream cheese little by little.
Transfer the frosting into a piping bag and refrigerate it before use.
